Our Story
In August of 2023, just three weeks after my mama passed away, God orchestrated a divine appointment that would change everything. I was on a weekend getaway in Naples, Florida with my sister — grieving, heavy-hearted, and quietly praying for healing. At the same time, Zach and I had just started texting, though he didn’t know about my loss. I hadn’t shared it with him — how do you tell someone you barely know that your heart is shattered?
The very day we arrived in Naples, Zach texted to check in. I told him I was out of town. When he asked where, I said, “Naples.” Without hesitation, he said, “I’m on my way.”
God knew exactly what He was doing.
I had been praying for a man who would love the Lord, love me wholeheartedly, and partner with me in the dreams God placed in my heart — including building something that would impact lives and glorify Him. What I didn’t know was that Zach had been praying for a wife who would support his dream of owning a construction company — and who could introduce him to Jesus in a deeper way. Ironically (or divinely), my ministry calling required someone who could literally build.
Ten days after we met, we married. And we began praying about where God wanted us to go after the sale of my mama’s house. We needed a place to grow roots — and God led us to a quiet spot in the countryside of West Tennessee where the vision could begin to unfold.
Zach’s passion for building started young — at age 12, he and his four brothers were designing treehouses that looked like grown men had built them. With the guidance of his father, a seasoned contractor, Zach developed his skills in woodworking and construction. Though he explored other careers over the years, his heart always pulled him back to building — to taking what’s broken or worn and restoring it without losing its original charm.
With over 30 years of hands-on experience, Zach is a master craftsman with an eye for detail, a passion for creativity, and a commitment to excellence. In 2023, after we moved to Tennessee, he took a position with TCR Construction in Jackson, where he further sharpened his skills and gained the confidence to finally step out on his own.
With my full support — and the encouragement of our dear friend Jenny (who helps us manage the business side) — we put our dreams on paper, got on our knees, and began to pray. Our vision was simple but powerful: to build a company from the ground up, one rooted in faith, excellence, and integrity.
In a world where a handshake doesn’t mean what it used to, we want to bring that back. At Newbury Construction & Remodeling, our word is our bond. We’re committed to craftsmanship, honest work, and honoring God in all we do.
But we’re dreaming even bigger. One day, we hope to provide internships to young people — to teach the next generation that skilled trades are not a dying art. We want to pass on the knowledge, the hands-on experience, and the pride of building something real and lasting.
This is more than just construction — it’s about restoring what’s been lost, reviving what’s been forgotten, and building a legacy of faith and excellence in our little corner of Tennessee.
